Historically, Siwa women embroidered the Hirz (amulet) onto their clothing as a symbolic shield—a way to ward off negative energy and safeguard their journey. 

Traditionally, mother-of-pearl buttons were added as a finishing detail. Their reflective surface was believed to offer protection and welcome good fortune.

To preserve the quality, shape and embroidery:

• Hand wash or machine wash cold — maximum 30°C
• Use a gentle cycle and mild detergent
• Wash with similar colors
• Do not bleach
• Do not tumble dry
• Reshape while damp and lay flat or hang to air dry
• Iron on low to medium heat while slightly damp
• Steam when needed
• Avoid prolonged exposure to direct sunlight while drying
